Medical interest in halotherapy has grown in recent years. Some respiratory specialists and wellness researchers have noted potential benefits, particularly for people with asthma, bronchitis, COPD, and allergies.
According to Dr. Norman Edelman of the American Lung Association:
> “Inhaled salt particles thin mucus, making it easier to clear the airways.”
Research also suggests that salt aerosol may reduce inflammation and improve airway function in children and adults with mild to moderate respiratory conditions. Studies have reported improved lung function measurements, such as FEV₁ and peak expiratory flow, after regular halotherapy sessions.
While halotherapy should not replace prescribed medical treatments, it is increasingly recognised as a complementary approach to respiratory health.
